!WOMEN ART REVOLUTION
Filmmaker Lynn Hershman Leeson attends the New Jersey premiere of her 2010 documentary that New York’s MOMA selected as one of the best documentaries of the year. The film explores the secret history of feminist art. Starting from its roots in 1960s antiwar and civil protests, the film details major developments in feminist art through the 1970s and explores how the tenacity and courage of these pioneering artists resulted in what is now widely regarded as the most significant art movement of the late 20th century. Hershman Leeson will also participate in a post-screening discussion. Introduction will be by Judith K. Brodsky. Part of the Concentric Circles of Influence: The Queenston Press series.
The PNC Foundation is the generous Lead Funder for the 2014 Concentric Circles of Influence: The Queenston Press exhibitions at the library, the Arts Council of Princeton’s Paul Robeson Center and the Historical Society of Princeton. Film event co-sponsor is the Institute for Women and Art (IWA) at Rutgers University through the IWA Momentum: Women, Art and Technology Project which is funded by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Rutgers Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion.
